This is because the final jump has you spend too much time in the air (you're faster on the ground), and you cannot take the corner before the U-Turn as well as you can from the main route. Hop rapidly three times to mitigate the grass slowdown, then enter a Power Slide to build your Reserves back up. Jump off the left side of it onto the third hill, then jump back into the grass towards the first tunnel. Grab your Power Slide Turbos and aim for the second dirt hill on the main course.
